zomg

if ever i were going to suffer through allergies for an extended period of time it would be for this dog (who happens to belong to neil gaiman). i pretty much adore this dog simply for the good-natured and goofy grin he always seems to have on his face.

arg!

i've come to the conclusion that i would really get more sleep done if it weren't for the bags upon bags full of yarn sitting on the floor in my room. unfortunately there is indeed yarn ... on my floor ... in a massive pile that seems to expand outwards on its own ...

me: ::yawn:: oh boy, i'm really tired. time for sleeps! ::turns off lights and lies down in bed::

yarn: whoa! hang on here! what do you think you're doing?!?! what's this? sleep?!?! who the *bleep* needs sleep?!?!

me: i do, now hush up so i can get some zzzz's.

yarn: aww come on, laura! look at us. we're all just sitting here wasting away. we need a purpose. we need to be crocheted. you know you want to ...

me: ... i do ... but that's beside the point. i have work in the morning, and so sleep demands more attention at the time. i'll crochet you into something soon. i will ... i just need time.

yarn: oh come on! you have time right now! just a little bit of crocheting, and we'll shut up. promise.

::yarn lurking towards the bed::

me: sleep ...

yarn: no, no. crochet.

me: oh bejeezies! how the frak did you get on my frakking bed! you were over there ... and now you're here ...

yarn: CROCHET!!!!

me: fine! 15 minutes, but that's it!

yarn: acceptable!

one hour later ...

me: sleep ... now ... zzzz

yarn: BWAHAHAHAHAHA

my imagination and brain are completely separate entities from me ...

a break in the shadows

i have been surprisingly cheerful with life outside of the work environment the last week or two (work still leaves me in an angry bitter mood).  i will have to attribute this to having things finally click with someone.  because i don't want to gush too much right now, we'll begin with other things that have had me chipper.

i have been going to the gym on an almost near daily basis as of late.  no weight loss (though i suppose i don't really need any), but i feel better after i go.  i started my karate class last tuesday. the beginning of the class left me rather disgruntled as people were rude and gave no explanation for anything, but after my small beginner group of four was able to break away from the rest of the people (all green belt and higher) it was better.  i am determined to get beyond a white belt this time around as i am now able to drive myself to belt ranking tests rather than be dependent on a parental figure.  i also want to kick some of that elitest asshole attitude from some of the advanced students that were particularly rude and jerk-like.

lots of new crochet patterns i am excited to delve into though the one i am working on now - baby booties for my managers parasite she is currently pregnant with - is not going too well.  i fear i may have used a faulty pattern, but will continue to attempt to modify until it does work.  mayhap i will stop by knitche sometime soon for some advice.

neil gaiman's dog had to have some leg surgery for a torn tendon this past week.  i love that dog as he looks and sounds like the most damned adorable pup (though not really a pup) ever.  loyal, protective, goofy and impossibly gorgeous.  i hope he feels better soon, and that the recovery goes smoothly.  i would bear through allergies for a chance to give that goofy dog a great big hug.

conversing with friends with scotland has always been able to lift moods.

right, onto the latest development in my life.  boy.  he's very nice, super geeky in the sci-fi/comics/art direction, handsome and kind ... i kind of absolutely adore him.  hung out a few times with a group, went to lunch with him one weekend where he bought me spaghetti.  went to a houseparty his house was hosting for new year's eve.  that was awkward for a bit cause the boyfriend of an ex-friend was there.  i got my kiss though after my friend d practically shoved me up the stairs after watts as i was too shy to kiss him with so many other people around.  few dates and hangouts since.  went out with kbx and D last night to meet up with watts and co. around genosha.  it was a lot of fun.

i worry since i just sent out my application for post-grad in dundee what will happen between watts and me.  i always seem to be meeting the right people at the wrong time ... like when i am leaving or they are leaving.  no acceptance yet though so i don't want to mention anything to him until i am sure what is happening.  right people.  wrong time.  i will wait to see the cards that are dealt before deciding anything.
